Afua Hirsch is an award-winning writer, broadcaster and former barrister known for her work on culture, social justice, identity and anti-racism.

Afua is the founder of Born in Me Productions, which creates scripted television, and produces documentaries, including African Renaissance, a returning BBC series on African art and culture, and Enslaved, a 6-part series she presented about the transatlantic slave trade with Samuel L Jackson.

A journalist for more than twenty years, Afua has been a senior Guardian correspondent, Sky News editor, columnist for the New York Times, Time Magazine and is an associate editor at Vogue. She is a professor of Journalism at the University of Southern California and the author of the bestselling book Brit(ish): On Race, Identity and Belonging. Her new book Decolonising My Body is forthcoming in October.
